A Zebra Tree Grows in Alexandria!

Volunteers really are the Heart of Alexandria.

Alexandria, VA – It was planted in Zebra’s name to recognize our recent award from Volunteer Alexandria (Business Philanthropist of the Year)!!! On May 4, Zebra’s Community Liaison Lucelle O’Flaherty, Publisher Mary Wadland, and Senior Editor Kris Gilbertson joined other VolALX award recipients at Holmes Run Park to plant seven (7) swamp white oaks. We had help from Councilmembers John T. Chapman and R Kirk McPike, Vice Mayor Amy Jackson, and City Arborist Phil Jubert.

A grateful hug!
Some high-level planting expertise.

When the dirty work was done, Zebra Publisher Mary Wadland gave our white oak a grateful hug for Zebra’s recent award from VolALX. It will take a generation, but future Alexandrians will be shaded by young trees planted today.
