Alexandria, VA – On June 6, Del Ray Artisans (DRA) unveiled a unique new banner, approximately 40’ wide by 7’ tall, featuring the ship insignia of the port city of Alexandria. The festive banner is the centerpiece of a new “yarn bomb” art installation bursting with vibrant colors and playful whimsy.

The installation graces the outside fence adjacent to the DRA gallery at 2704  Mount Vernon Avenue. Reflecting the values of an Eco-friendly City, the banner is made primarily from repurposed or upcycled yarn donated by the River Towers Condominium Association.

The installation was a collaborative effort. Assisting DRA President Dawn Wyse Hurto were Sophia Jones, Adelyn Doyle, and Kurt Peterson. The banner is celebratory, educational, and visually attractive and will be on display through September 1, 2024. For more details, please visit delrayartisans.org/exhibits/
