Made in ALX Moves to New King Street Location
ALEXANDRIA, VA-On Saturday, Nov. 16, Made in ALX will be opening a new store and workshop space at 415 King St.
Made in ALX is a unique marketplace dedicated to showcasing and selling art and handmade products crafted by 50 Alexandria-based artists. Items include jewelry, ceramics, glass, woodworks, original art, candles and much more. In addition, Made in ALX has become known for creative workshops and classes, free craft events for kids, and hosting artist pop-ups.
Two local women started Made in ALX online in 2020 as a way to connect residents with local artists, creators and makers during a time when many local artists and makers were unable to pop-up due to the pandemic. In 2021, Made in ALX opened a pop-up shop in Old Town for the holiday season, which was so successful that the organization started to look for long-term space. The store was open for more than two years in Old Town North (at 533 Montgomery St.) before this move to 415 King St., and it is now owned by co-founder Beth Lawton.
The official opening day is Saturday, Nov. 16, and a ribbon-cutting is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 20.
