OTWGC Shares Alexandria Holiday Wreath Contest Winners

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Old Town Walled Garden Club (OTWGC) hosted the 55th Annual Holiday Wreath Contest the week of December 8th and is delighted to announce this year’s winners.

The contest recognizes the most striking holiday wreaths made from all natural materials.  There were so many beautiful wreaths this year.  We want to congratulate the winners and honorable mention recipients.

Judging criteria included originality of design, scale, color, contrast and attractiveness from the street view.  For the residential category, the wreaths had to be created by the homeowner.

The following are the winners for the Homeowner Category:

1st place – 205 N Columbus St

2nd place – 721 S Lee St

3rd place – 100 Franklin St

Honorable mentions:

322 N Columbus St

202 Jefferson St

FIRST PLACE

205 N. Columbus Street has a beautiful pair of evergreen wreaths with cranberries, white berries, star fruit, oranges and the hospitality pineapple tied with a grosgrain orange and white ribbon.

SECOND PLACE

721 South Lee Street which has a lovely wreath with multiple varieties of evergreens, pinecones, red and white berries with a blue grey satin bow highlighting the blue door.

THIRD PLACE

100 Franklin Street has a beautiful spray of evergreens with cascading pinecones tied with jacquard ribbon and tan satin streamers.

HONORABLE MENTION

322 N. Columbus Street is stunning with a pair of square boxwood wreaths hung with red tartan ribbon from the top of the doors.

202 Jefferson Street has a multi evergreen wreath with a blue satin bow to compliment the door.

The Old presbyterian Meeting House has a large evergreen wreath framing their historic plaque filled with pinecones, a stunning tan velvet bow stuffed with small white flowers. The same materials are used for the swags across the front railing.
