In related poetry news, there is still time to apply to be Alexandria’s next poet laureate. That deadline is Jan. 10. As The Zebra reported in October,  “[t]he poet laureate is tasked with writing poems for special occasions and appearing in public to read his or her work, which usually focuses on Alexandria as its theme.”
