Thursday, February 27, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Help Clean-up Theodore Roosevelt Island — The Friends of Mt Vernon is hosting a trash cleanup on Theodore Roosevelt Island. Equipment will be provided.

Tuesday, February 25, 7 to 9 p.m., Become a Volunteer During Emergencies — Volunteer Alexandria is hosting an information session for people interested in serving in a volunteer role during an emergency.

Saturday, March 1, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Volunteer at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade — The Ballyshaners are looking for marshals to line up units in order of the march, monitor attendance, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Breakfast and training provided.

Monday, March 3, 2 to 3 p.m., Prepare Your Business for Emergencies — Join a discussion on basic skills and emergency planning to make your business safe with Volunteer Alexandria.

Friday, March 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Distribute Food for Alexandria Residents — The Department of Community and Human Services is seeking volunteers to sort and distribute groceries for distribution to people experiencing food insecurity.

Recognize Volunteers for their Service — Nominate your volunteers for city-wide, state-wide, and national recognition during National Volunteer Month. Volunteer Alexandria is accepting nominations for several awards, including for Lifetime Achievement, Youth Volunteer Service, Business Philanthropist, and more.

Maintain Gardens with Housing Alexandria — Housing Alexandria is seeking assistance for maintaining community gardens from March through November. Volunteers will also harvest produce for residents and support food access.

Help People in the Eviction Process — The Legal Services of Northern Virginia is seeking volunteers to support, assist, and collect data for people facing eviction on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m. No legal experience necessary.

Advocate for Immigrant Children – Work with unaccompanied migrant children with the Young Center for Children’s Immigrants Rights. Training will be provided.
