ALEXANDRIA, VA-On Feb 25, the city received a special use permit application from Mai Thai (6 King St.), located on the waterfront. The applicant, Sorakrit Poolchuay, is requesting use of four spaces in a parking lot behind the building. The spaces are owned by the city.

If approved, the spaces will be used for outdoor seating. According to the application, they could seat up to 44 people for outdoor dining. It equals approximately 912.5 more feet than the restaurant has now.

Mai Thai wants a one-year license. When it expires, the restaurant would pay the city month-to-month at $828.33 per month.
