ALEXANDRIA, VA – If you’re interested in living in Goodwin House Seminary Road (GHSR), projected to open in 2029, you’d better hurry—prospects can start making 10 percent deposits on October 1, and more than 140 people have already put down $1,000 to join the expression of interest list, according to Goodwin Living, a faith-based, not-for-profit senior living and healthcare services organization in the National Capital Region.

“We’re just super-excited and fortunate to reinvest in Alexandria and provide more options for older adults and also be a great community partner,” said Rob Liebreich, president and CEO of Goodwin Living, during Wednesday evening’s ribbon-cutting for the new sales center. “We’re providing more job opportunities, celebrating diversity, and becoming an intentional place of welcome for seniors.”

A Transformative Project for the West End

One of the largest new developments in Alexandria’s West End, GHSR will be built next to The View Alexandria and will offer a full continuum of care: independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and hospice.

“It is truly a transformative project, because it will make the West End the place for healthcare in Alexandria, when you combine it with the new Inova Alexandria Hospital facility and the additional services it will bring,” said Mindy Lyle, a longtime community leader recently honored as one of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s “40 Over 40.”

Residences, Jobs, and Amenities

The $340 million project will feature 257 apartments across two towers, connected by a three-story landscaped podium. Officials say it will also bring more than 250 permanent jobs to Alexandria.

Designed as an “urban arboretum,” the community will showcase 14 patterns of biophilic design with green spaces, sensory gardens, and tree-lined plazas. Residents will enjoy four restaurants, a fitness and wellness center, spiritual and community spaces, concierge services, creative studios, and curated cultural programming.

Apartments range from a 675 sq ft, one-bedroom, one-bath unit to a 2,010 sq ft two-bedroom, 2.5 bath residence with a den. Entrance fees begin at $400,000 for one-bedrooms and reach up to $1.7 million for larger units, with monthly service fees ranging from $4,000 to $10,000.

“We salute this bold step and support you in every way,” said Joe Haggerty, president and CEO of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
