AWFG Donates $13,922 to Volunteer Alexandria for Toys4ALX
Alexandria Women for Good Giving Circle Supports Holiday Toy Drive and Community Programs in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Members of Alexandria Women for Good (AWFG) voted to award their third-quarter 2025 donation of $13,922 to Volunteer Alexandria, supporting the organization’s annual Toys4ALX holiday drive, which aims to collect more than 3,500 toys for over 700 local children.
The donation will help ensure children in Alexandria experience a joyful holiday season. In addition to Toys4ALX recipients, toys will be shared with key partner organizations, including The Miracle League of Alexandria, The Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse Center, and other community partners, extending the impact to even more families in need.
AWFG officially presented the donation during their monthly happy hour on December 4 at Elaine’s.
This marks the second time Alexandria Women for Good has supported Volunteer Alexandria, following a previous grant awarded earlier this year. With this latest contribution, AWFG’s total support to Volunteer Alexandria now approaches $25,000.
“Alexandria Women for Good is thrilled to award our quarterly donation to Volunteer Alexandria,” said Laura Herron, co-founder of AWFG. “We are a giving circle focused on raising funds to support nonprofit organizations in our local community. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we’ve raised nearly $150,000 over the past three years for 11 deserving Alexandria nonprofits. It is our hope that this donation will help make the holidays and winter season happier for Alexandria families and children. Many thanks to our members!”
Volunteer Alexandria emphasized the importance of the grant to its operations and programs.
“Receiving this grant means so much to Volunteer Alexandria,” said Marion Brunken, Executive Director of Volunteer Alexandria. “We have a very small budget of $300,000 and this grant enables us to host such an important and large event and to pitch in to purchase toys to ensure no one is left behind. A small portion will also support our Snow Buddy program, a program that matches low-income seniors with a volunteer who will shovel snow during the winter season. We are so grateful for Alexandria Women for Good to make large grants to nonprofits.”
