Alexandria, VA – Old Town, get ready. The Commodore — the self-proclaimed “five-star dive bar” that’s built a loyal following in D.C. — is due to drop anchor in Alexandria this March 2026.
The neighborhood favorite is opening its second location at 220 N. Lee St., the former home of Mystic BBQ & Grill, bringing its signature laid-back vibe to the heart of Old Town. Expect the same crowd-pleasing craft burgers and cocktails that made the original a hit, with maybe a few specials in store for this new location.
More than just a bar, The Commodore is aiming to be a true neighborhood hangout, complete with trivia nights, bingo, and the kind of unpretentious atmosphere that turns first-time visitors into regulars.
With owners Rob Van de Graaff and Executive Chef Steve Kim at the helm, the new outpost is set to inject fresh energy into the local dining scene while keeping things casual, fun, and flavor-forward.
