AWLA’s Pawfect Match of the Week – Meet Bart!

This Sweet, Affectionate Pup Needs Cuddles, Walks, and a Fresh Start

AWLA Pet of the week June 11 2026 Bart
Not loving my visible ribs. I’d love to be adopted by someone who will fatten me up a little. With healthy food. Of course. Photo courtesy of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA

Gender: Male

Age: 3 years

Weight: 63 pounds

Color: Tan

About Me: Hey there! I may be a little shy when we first meet but give me a few minutes and you’ll discover that I’m basically a professional cuddler. My favorite things include soaking up attention, leaning against my favorite humans for pets and scratches, and handing out plenty of doggie kisses. Whether we’re taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood or exploring a wooded trail, I’m happiest when I’m by your side. I also seem to get along well with other dogs and enjoy making new friends.

Ideal Match: I’m looking for someone who believes that love is best measured in belly rubs, quality time, and treats. Since I’m currently a little on the thin side, I’d love a family committed to helping me reach a healthy weight with good nutrition and lots of care. In return, I promise unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and enough cuddles to last a lifetime. If you’re searching for a sweet companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his people, we might be a perfect match.

Fun Fact: My signature move is the “Bart Lean.” When I decide you’re one of my favorite humans, I’ll gently lean my whole body into you to request extra pets and scratches. It’s impossible to resist!

My adoption fees are paid and I will be spayed or neutered before you take me home. To learn more about me or meet me, contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria by emailing [email protected] or call 703-746-4774, option 2.
