ALEXANDRIA, VA – Bishop Ireton rising senior Jason Day added a national championship to his growing list of accomplishments by winning the National Elite Boys 2-Mile race at the 2026 Adidas Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Day held off a late challenge down the homestretch to capture the title in one of the premier distance events at the national meet, which draws top high school athletes from across the country. The National Elite division is considered one of the meet’s most competitive levels and serves as a showcase for many of the nation’s best emerging track and field athletes. The 2-mile championship race was contested June 19 at the Marcus T. Johnson Track Complex.

Day’s victory continues a standout year for the Cardinals distance runner, who already holds Bishop Ireton’s top recorded outdoor 3200-meter performance.

Congratulations to Jason on representing Bishop Ireton and Alexandria on the national stage.
