ALEXANDRIA, VA – Some friendships stand the test of time. In 1953, neighborhood friends Lynnwood Campbell and Sharon (Jones) Frazier walked hand in hand as children. More than seven decades later, they reunited for another photo at Alexandria’s Juneteenth celebration in 2026.

Although they attended different schools—Sharon at Charles Houston Elementary School and Parker-Gray High School, and Lynnwood at Saint Joseph Elementary School, Saint Mary Elementary School, and Western High School—they grew up just a few blocks apart. Sharon lived at 1325 Cameron Street, while Lynnwood lived at 425 N. Alfred Street. Both attended Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Columbus Street in Alexandria.

Some things change with time. Others—like lifelong friendships—only grow stronger.
