Alexandria Voters: Your 2026 Election Guide

Early Voting Begins Sept. 18 As Alexandrians Prepare For The Nov. 3 Election

Alexandria VA – With early voting beginning Friday, Sept. 18, Alexandria voters can refer to the Alexandria Election Guide to learn about the ways to cast a ballot before Election Day and what the ballot contains. The City of Alexandria says the Nov. 3 general election will include races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives District 8, and three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.

Election officials within the Commonwealth of Virginia are by law not allowed to provide party designation for local candidates on the ballot (§ 24.2-613). The only candidates that may have a party designation on a ballot are those running for federal, statewide, or General Assembly offices.

Here are the dates and voting details Alexandria residents need to know.

Key Dates

Sept. 18: Early voting begins at the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections, 132 N. Royal St., Suite 100. Regular weekday hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Oct. 23: This is the deadline for advance voter registration and for requesting a ballot by mail. Same-day registration remains available through Election Day, but voters registering during that period vote provisionally.

Oct. 31: Early in-person voting ends at 5 p.m. in Alexandria.

Nov. 3: Election Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The library begins early-voting service Oct. 18, with evening and weekend hours continuing through Oct. 31.

What’s On The Ballot?

The Election Guide provides the information about who Alexandria voters will choose for the U.S. Senate and the 8th Congressional District. The Senate ballot lists Mark R. Warner, Democrat, and Bert Mizusawa, Republican, along with a write-in option.

Three proposed constitutional amendments will also appear statewide. They address reproductive freedom, marriage, and voting rights. The official ballot language and voter explanations are available through the Election Guide found at the Virginia Department of Elections.
