Alexandria Artists Featured in October Art Exhibitions

Alexandria, VA – Nicole Gauvin, a Canadian iris paper folding artist based in Alexandria, creates unique artwork expertly crafted by hand using carefully folded upcycled materials. As Nicole explains, every piece is “layered with intention and love.”
Nicole is a member of Del Ray Artisans where her extraordinary artwork is oftentimes on view during their monthly themed exhibits. Nicole’s creations comprise the current solo show at the Fireplace Alcove Gallery of the Mount Vernon Unitarian Church, on view October 2-31, 2026.

The exhibit is open Sundays from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. and by appointment. Nicole is sponsoring the Coffee Hour Sunday, October 18, at 11:30 a.m. Meet her then and perhaps find your art. The holidays are coming! For more information, visit: https://knerq.square.site/
Several Del Ray Artisans members have artwork in the Alexandria Experience Collection at Nepenthe, the first juried exhibition for the fabulous five-year-old gallery in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center on Fort Hunt Road. DRA members Nicole Gauvin, Jeff Lodge, Scott MacConomy, Alfa Tate O’Neil, and Liza Uddin are among the 35 exhibiting artists selected from over 100 juried entries.

A call to artists by Nepenthe invited submissions which reflected the essence of Alexandria living: history, culture, people, places, architecture, and nature. The jury committee, represented by artists as well as art collectors, art historians, curators, gallerists, museum directors, and local leaders in the arts, viewed artwork in eight different mediums.
The Alexandria Experience Collection opened September 24 and will be on exhibit in the gallery through October 29, 2026. The entire collection will be available to view online and for purchase beginning in October at shop.nepenthegallery.com For a complete list of the Alexandria Experience Collection artists, visit the Nepenthe Gallery website under Exhibits.
