Feeling in the Pink for the Breast Cancer Collective

Alexandria, VA – The 4th annual Drink Pink on the Patio took place under a gorgeous fall sky at Hummingbird Bar & Kitchen last night. Everyone got the Pink memo, as guests wearing pink mingled under a pink sunset, enjoying pink cocktails, mocktails, and rosè.

Event organizer MaryBeth Powers thanked Hummingbird and general manager Kenneth Petty for the delicious appetizers, specialty drinks, and friendly and efficient service they provided for the event. This year, Powers introduced a raffle at the event, to win a generous gift card donated by Hummingbird.

The event was a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Collective, where $3 from every ticket directly supports the BCC to provide crucial breast cancer care for all women, but especially those without easy access to quality care. BCC Founder Dr. David Weintritt thanked the crowd and reminded them why the mission matters.

Weintritt said, “For us, we’re thankful for being able to gather together and raise money, and increase awareness, and then get to that community, and find $99 for a test mammogram. If that’s done consistently, and if breast cancer happens, that individual will immediately be 40% less likely to die.”

While Weintritt uses the most advanced, state-of-the-art equipment and technology in his practice, he emphasized that of all the advancements he has seen, nothing beats early detection for positive outcomes. “Regardless of your race or the type of cancer you’re diagnosed with, that alone puts you in the best possible position for survival.”
