ALEXANDRIA, VA – Wondering what’s happening behind those construction fences surrounding Alexandria City Hall and Market Square? You don’t have to stand on the sidewalk and guess. The City has put the action online.

An interactive construction webcam overlooks the renovation site, giving residents a bird’s-eye view of the work underway. The image refreshes every 10 minutes, so you can check back and see what has changed.

Pan, Zoom, and Peek Behind the Fence

Here’s the fun part: You aren’t limited to a single view. Place your cursor over the webcam image, click, and drag left or right to pan across the construction site. Want to inspect a particular corner? The camera’s zoom control magnifies the view up to 440 percent.

The changing view captures work on an Alexandria landmark with a long history. City Hall, built in 1871, is undergoing major updates alongside Market Square, including improvements to aging building systems, accessibility, and public spaces.
