Lena’s is using Ozone, a disinfectant and oxidizer, that when mixed with tap water is powerful but safe. Ozone kills viruses and bacteria quicker then similar products. The restaurant is one of the first establishments on the East Coast to use this cleaning alternative.
The building that houses Lena’s, Yates Corner, was designed with green building attributes and is expected to achieve LEED GOLD Certification. mechanical and electric designs emphasize economic efficiency and sustainability and were a critical part of the overall design. Geothermal heating and cooling, as well as water conservation through the collection of rainwater in a cistern to be used for landscape irrigation, are only a few of the many sustainable features of the property.
To operate during the pandemic, the Yates family invested in state-of-the-art disinfection fans that run 24 hours a day and kill 99.99 percent of airborne pathogens, including the coronavirus.
