Support ALIVE! By Joining the 40th Annual StepALIVE! Walkathon This Sunday, Oct. 17
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Want to support a good cause? Come out for the 40th Annual StepALIVE! Walkathon this Sunday, Oct. 17. The fundraiser’s goal is $65,000, and every penny will support ALIVE!’s many programs, which help Alexandria residents struggling with poverty and hunger. As the pandemic continues, the money raised will assist ALIVE! in their mission to provide food, shelter, emergency financial assistance, and eviction prevention.
The five-mile walk through Old Town will start and finish in the parking lot of First Christian Church at 2723 King St. Pre-registration and t-shirt pickup begins at 1:15 p.m., the walk starts at 2, and a celebration is scheduled from 3:30-4:30.
Walkers are invited to register in advance by visiting stepalivewalk.org. There is a link to donate on the page as well. Because ALIVE! is a nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Individuals can create their own teams by creating an account. Prizes will be awarded to the teams that raise the most money and have the most walkers.
During pre-registration, participants can enjoy music by the Alexandria Citizen Band. The StepALIVE! Bluegrass Band will play the post-walk celebration.
Sponsors this year include: the Alfred Street Baptist Church, Blaszkow Legal PLLC, Ruth L. and Michael J. Chamowitz, Fairlington United Methodist Men, and Oliff PLC.
