Alexandria, VA – Mount Vernon Estate celebrates Christmas the way it was in George Washington’s day, except for themed trees in the Education Center, such as the one enjoyed by Alexandrian Audrey Miller featuring colonial musical instruments. Aladdin, the camel, was authentic. Washington had one brought to Mount Vernon every Christmas for his guests’ pleasure. Decorations in the mansion’s New Room showed the simple style they favored. And the outdoor maze attracted young enthusiasts.
