Learn About the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office by Applying for Its Community Academy

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Have you ever wanted to learn how the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office operates on a daily basis? The Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for their Community Academy. The deadline to apply is March 8 for the spring session.
Classes are a mix of presentations and interactive activities. Topics include jail operations, judicial and special operations, civil process and warrant service, and inmate services and programs. Participants will also tour the Adult Detention Center and Alexandria Courthouse.
“The curriculum covers core elements that are essential for participants to gain a greater understanding of the Sheriff’s Office operations,” according to the Sheriff’s Community Academy page. “As a result of their participation, residents will be able to better comprehend the vital and unique role that the Sheriff’s Office plays in the community’s public safety.”
The Academy will be held on every Saturday in April with a graduation ceremony May 4. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Apply HERE.
