ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria’s Office of the Arts has named the next artist who will create an installation for the Site See series at Waterfront Park. Nekisha Durrett, based in Washington, DC, has large scale projects on display in Arlington (a 35-foot-tall “vessel”) and DC.

“The Site/See series has made Alexandria’s waterfront into a destination for engaging contemporary art,” said Diane Ruggiero, who leads the Office of the Arts and is a deputy director for the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. “We love how the public has embraced these installations and we can’t wait to bring Nekisha to Alexandria to create the next chapter.”

First launching in 2019, the Site/See series is popular with visitors and residents alike. Durrett is the seventh artist who will have her work displayed in Old Town. It will be installed next spring.

All artwork is selected by a community task force with approval from the Alexandria Commission for the Arts.
