Volunteer at the Around the World Festival on August 24 — The Around the World Festival is an international showcase of food, culture, and music. The Festival needs volunteers to assist with set-up, vendors, performers, selling beverages, helping visitors, and supervising children in the kid’s activity area.

Saturday, September 14, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Set-up a Museum Exhibit — The Friendship Firehouse Museum needs help setting up an antique fire service exhibition. No heavy lifting required.

Saturday, September 21, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Assist at Friends and Family Day — Set-up, monitor games and activities, serve food, and more at the annual Friends of Guest House Friends and Family Day.

Be A Book Buddy for an Elementary School Student — The Alexandria Tutoring Consortium is looking for volunteers to tutor kindergarteners, 1st, or 2nd graders for 1 or 2 sessions a week during the school day. Training, materials, and support.

For Businesses Only: Prepare a Home for Family Day — Friends of Guest House is looking for a group of volunteers to do various home construction projects, like staining the deck or removing weeds. For corporate or nonprofit groups only.

Cover Front Desk at Children’s-based Nonprofit — Help with administrative duties, support caseworkers and maintain the emergency clothing closet at the Center for Alexandria’s Children.

Console People in their time of need — Haven of Northern Virginia is training people to provide emotional support over the phone for individuals who are grieving, seriously ill, or grieving.

Tutor Middle or High School Students — Tutor middle or high school students during after-school hours for 3 days a week at Casa Chirilagua and help with their academic and personal growth. Orientation is required.

Skills Connect Projects (Use your professional skills to help an organization with a short-term project).
