Nine Alexandria Deputy Sheriffs Graduate First-Ever Deputy School
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Nine Alexandria Deputy Sheriffs grdauated from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy’s inaugural Deputy School yesterday (Nov. 25). Deputy Amaya, Deputy Jones, Deputy Koroma, Deputy Leiberg, Deputy Mills, Deputy Otieno, Deputy Tyler, Deputy Vasquez and Deputy Washington were part of a cohort with 24 members of Session 151 in Ashburn.
Sheriff Sean Casey and his deputies, along with ASO training staff, attended the ceremony.
“Our primary responsibility is the safe and secure operation of the Alexandria Adult Detention Center, and this rigorous training emphasizes critical knowledge and skills necessary for our deputies to excel in their new careers,” Sheriff Casey said.
Training lasted ten weeks. Deputy School focused on jail operations and court security. It included emergency vehicle operations, firearms training, physical fitness and wellness, control tactics, active bystandership, legal training, civil process, inmate supervision, cell and person searches, CPR and first aid, and serving diverse communities.
The new deputies will next complete field training at the Sheriff’s Office before starting their regular assignments at the Adult Detention Center.
