ALEXANDRIA, VA-Do you read and/or write poetry? Looking for creative ways to share your work? DASH is seeking entries for its annual DASHing in Motion poetry contest.

For the last 11 years, Alexandria’s Office of the Arts and the Alexandria Transit Co. have worked together to host the contest. It is open to writers 16 years and older who live, work, or study in the city. The writers who have their work selected will find it displayed on DASH buses and trolleys.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 17. Click HERE to apply.

In related poetry news, there is still time to apply to be Alexandria’s next poet laureate. That deadline is Jan. 10. As The Zebra reported in October,  “[t]he poet laureate is tasked with writing poems for special occasions and appearing in public to read his or her work, which usually focuses on Alexandria as its theme.”

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Nominations are permitted. Apply HERE.
