REMINDER: The Chamber ALX 40 Over and Under 40 Applications Due by April 4

ALEXANDRIA, VA—This is a reminder (and a how-to) to members of the Alexandria community to send in their completed applications to the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce for the two honor groups, 40 Under 40 and 40 Over 40.

40 Under 40

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce is selecting its tenth class of 40 Under 40 honorees. This program recognizes 40 of Alexandria’s business community leaders under 40, who will have a powerful impact on the thriving business culture for years to come. Honorees come from various industries, have diverse educational backgrounds, and have wide-ranging philanthropic and community service experiences.  Applicants must not be Chamber members to apply but must live or work in Alexandria.  Click here for more information and to use; the deadline is April 4.

40 Over 40

In recognition of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s tenth class of 40 Under 40 honorees, The Chamber is releasing a special edition class of 40 Over 40 honorees to celebrate wisdom and experience in this Who’s Who of the community. This event celebrates incredible individuals, their successes in various industries, and their impact on the thriving Alexandria community.  Applicants do not have to be Chamber members to apply; the deadline is April 4. Mary Wadland

Mary Wadland is the Publisher and Editor in Chief of The Zebra Press, the award-winning Alexandria news publication she founded in 2010 with a mission of celebrating community, culture, and all the good news happening across the city. A longtime community advocate and storyteller, Mary was selected for the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce inaugural 40 Under 40 class and has served as President of Living Legends of Alexandria since 2022. Known for her deep local roots, sharp editorial instincts, and passion for connecting people through journalism, she has spent decades chronicling the personalities, businesses, events, and civic life that make Alexandria unique. Originally from Delray Beach, Florida, Mary is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia, and has been part of Alexandria’s publishing and media community since 1987.
