Spirit Suffer Shutout Loss in Home Opener Against Kansas City

WASHINGTON, DC-Playing before an opening day record crowd of 19,254 fans, the Washington Spirit ultimately fell 0-2 to the Kansas City Current in their 2025 Audi Field debut. Lo’eau LaBonta converted a second-half penalty and Temwa Chawinga scored in stoppage time to complete the scoring for Kansas City.
Despite the loss, the Spirit’s supporters kept it “Rowdy at Audi,” cheering their team until the final whistle.
The Spirit (1-1-0) return to Audi Field on Friday March 28th at 8pm to face Bay FC (1-0-1).
