ALEXANDRIA, VA – Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching. But before you plan how you will spend three days off, pause a moment and think about the real meaning of Memorial Day. It honors those who gave their lives in service to our country. The fallen made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live how we choose. So whether you are having a barbecue, going to the beach, or just relaxing at home, keep that in mind.
Now…Memorial Day weekend is also the unofficial start of summer! Get out and enjoy the weather. If you are thinking about staying around town, here are some ways to spend your time.

Versace Plaza/Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial
2701 Commonwealth Avenue
The program pay tribute to Capt. Humbert Roque “Rocky” Versace and 67 other Alexandrians who were MIA or KIA during the Vietnam War. It will also honor all of our nation’s fallen. Beyond the Battlefield: A Walking Tour of Civil War Alexandria

The 42nd Annual Alexandria Jazz Festival
