Want to Know the Best Spots to Watch Fireworks in Alexandria for its Big Birthday Bash on July 12?
Celebrate City and Nation with Free Music, Cupcakes and Spectacular Show in the Sky

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Get ready for a party as Alexandria marks its 276th birthday alongside America’s 249th with one epic celebration on Saturday, July 12 at scenic Oronoco Bay Park! The evening promises something for everyone—from music and poetry to cannons, cupcakes, and a dazzling fireworks show to light up the waterfront sky.
The fun kicks off at 6 p.m. with DJ Geena Marie setting the vibe while local legend George Worrell serves as the evening’s ever-charming emcee. From there, Alexandria brings out the local stars: Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Poet Laureate Maria Cristina Donoso, and the City Council, who will hand out free cupcakes (thanks to Wegmans!) starting at 8 p.m.—get there early before they’re gone!
But that’s just the appetizer. The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at 8:30 p.m., leading into the evening’s fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m.—complete with ceremonial cannons courtesy of the U.S. Army’s Presidential Salute Battery.
