Alexandria Library Launches Upgraded Online Catalog

Alexandria, VA – Beginning Monday, August 19, the Alexandria Library will introduce a significantly upgraded online catalog system, providing a modern and user-friendly browsing experience.
The new platform features unified title listings that display all formats—print, ebook, and audiobook—in one place. Additional enhancements include detailed series information, personalized reading recommendations, the ability to save searches, and expanded metadata for children’s books, such as Lexile levels, Accelerated Reader scores, and suggested age or grade ranges.
To ensure a smooth transition, all library branches will close for one day on August 19, and minor service disruptions are expected in the days leading to the launch. These include temporary limits on placing holds, accepting new library card applications, and adding new materials to the catalogue.
When the system goes live, library users will enjoy a more innovative, more streamlined way to explore Alexandria’s full collection of books, audio, video, and digital resources.
