Exciting Lineup Planned for Tomorrow’s Mount Vernon Rec Center Grand Reopening

Center will collect nonperishable items to support a holiday food drive benefiting local students and families

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Fairfax County Park Authority is rolling out the welcome mat for the community as the newly refreshed Mount Vernon Rec Center celebrates its grand reopening on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The free, family-friendly event invites neighbors of all ages to explore the upgraded facility, enjoy hands-on activities, and experience the center’s new amenities at 2017 Belle View Blvd.

Guests can look forward to a lively schedule that includes:

  • Skating expo, clinic, and open skate

  • Kids’ activities such as duckie fishing, temporary tattoos, esports, board games, and a gymnastics room

  • Meet and greet with the Washington Nationals’ George Washington mascot

  • Performance by the West Potomac High School Cheer Team

  • Music by DJ Infinite Sounds

  • Drop-in fitness demos

  • Food trucks and popcorn

  • Rec Center tours, indoor climbing wall access, and sensory-friendly stations

  • Community partner and Park Authority information tables

Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable items to support a holiday food drive benefiting local students and families through the Mount Vernon District and Fairfax County Public Schools.
