ALEXANDRIA, VA – Nine newly minted Alexandria deputy sheriffs are officially ready to serve the city after graduating from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy on December 1. Sheriff Sean Casey joined members of his command and training staff in Sterling to celebrate the completion of Session 153’s rigorous Deputy School program.

The graduates—Deputy Tiana Clinton, Deputy Tai Dieudonne, Deputy Shakayla Farmer, Deputy Odir Gutierrez, Deputy Vidalina Morales, Deputy Tucker Morrow, Deputy Naqibullah Naderi, Deputy Desmond Robinson, and Deputy Musa Turay—trained alongside recruits from the Arlington County and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Offices. Together, they completed an intensive 10-week schedule covering the essential skills needed to safely and effectively manage modern jail and court operations.

Deputy School instruction includes emergency vehicle operations, firearms proficiency, physical fitness and wellness, control tactics, basic legal training, inmate supervision, cell and person searches, first aid, and strategies for serving diverse communities. The curriculum also emphasizes active bystandership—preparing deputies to step in during critical moments to prevent harm.

Several Alexandria graduates earned standout recognition. Deputy Farmer and Deputy Robinson served in the ceremony’s honor guard, presenting the colors before the audience. Deputy Morales and Deputy Farmer also distinguished themselves academically, earning the second and third highest scores in the class.

With the Academy behind them, the deputies will now begin field training with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office before receiving their full assignments at the Adult Detention Center.
