ALEXANDRIA, VA — One of Del Ray’s most beloved spring traditions is nearly sold out as the 2026 Del Ray House & Garden Tour returns Saturday, May 9, offering residents and visitors a rare chance to step inside some of the neighborhood’s most distinctive homes and gardens. Plus, we just heard “breaking news” that ticket holders will also be allowed to go inside the old caboose in Del Ray!

Hosted every two years by the Del Ray Citizens Association, the self-guided walking tour will feature a dozen properties throughout the walkable Alexandria neighborhood, including historic homes, modern renovations, new construction, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and native gardens.

Organizers say this year’s tour also offers “a taste—visual and edible—of Del Ray,” blending architecture, gardening inspiration, and neighborhood charm into one of Alexandria’s signature community events.

The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, the weekend before Mother’s Day. Space is limited, and organizers noted that the last House & Garden Tour sold out completely.

Tickets may be purchased online through the Del Ray Citizens Association website and picked up the day of the event at either the Del Ray Farmers Market at Mount Vernon and Oxford avenues or the Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market at Mount Vernon and Bellefonte avenues.

Proceeds from the biennial event support neighborhood and community initiatives, including the Caboose restoration project, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, and after-school tutoring programs at Mount Vernon Community School.

Founded in 1954, the Del Ray Citizens Association serves residents and business owners throughout Del Ray and advocates on issues ranging from schools and transportation to parks, housing, public safety, and neighborhood quality of life.
