Nine Community Standouts Named 2026 Alexandria Living Legends
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Nine familiar faces whose work has touched neighborhoods, schools, city life and generations of Alexandrians have been named the 2026 Living Legends of Alexandria.
This year’s class is:

- Edward Horn
- Michael Johnson
- Suzie Kratzok
- Tim Lovain
- Mindy Lyle
- Kevin Rue
- Ed Semonian
- Tony Suggs
From public service and education to mentoring, community advocacy, preservation and civic leadership, the group represents the many ways people quietly — and sometimes very visibly — make Alexandria better.
“This year brought an extraordinary number of outstanding nominations, and the selection committee faced very difficult decisions,” said Gayle Reuter, vice president of the Living Legends of Alexandria Board of Directors. “This recognition celebrates not only their achievements, but the enduring influence they’ve had on others.”
Living Legends of Alexandria was started by photographer and community historian Nina Tisara to identify, honor, and tell the stories of people whose efforts have made a lasting difference in the city. The first class was inducted in 2007. With this year’s nine honorees, nearly 200 people will have been recognized as Living Legends.
“This is a class whose fingerprints are all over Alexandria,” said Mary Wadland, president of Living Legends of Alexandria. “They have strengthened this city through service, mentorship, courage, and a deep belief that neighbors are responsible for one another. Each has made a difference that will outlast any single moment, and together they tell a wonderful story of the Alexandria we all love.”
The community will meet and celebrate the new Legends at the annual induction reception, scheduled for early December at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.
“Watch for the ticket announcement,” Wadland said. “It is a hot ticket, and we sold out last year.”
