Mount Vernon’s Colonial Market & Fair Returns Sept. 19–20
Dozens of artisans, historic trades and handmade goods will fill Mount Vernon with an 18th-century marketplace atmosphere Sept. 19–20.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — George Washington’s Mount Vernon will turn into a bustling colonial marketplace this weekend when the annual Colonial Market & Fair returns Sept. 19–20.
The event brings together dozens of artisans demonstrating and selling handmade wares inspired by traditional trades and crafts.
Visitors can expect a mix of demonstrations, period-style goods and the atmosphere of an 18th-century market spread across the estate.
For families, the appeal is as much in watching the work happen as in shopping. Artisans typically demonstrate skills such as woodworking, textiles, metalwork and other historic crafts while talking with visitors about how the objects were made and used.
The fair is included with admission to Mount Vernon, making it an easy add-on for visitors already planning to tour the Mansion, gardens and grounds.
The event is especially well suited to families, history lovers and anyone looking for a highly visual weekend outing close to Alexandria.
