ALEXANDRIA, VA — La Casa Restaurant will reopen at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, ending a closure of more than five weeks that began after an accident and fire at the Shoppes at Foxchase.

On Aug. 25, a tractor-trailer delivering to Harris Teeter struck a power line behind the shopping center, according to the Alexandria Fire Department. Electrical problems stemming from the accident forced La Casa to close.

The department said the damaged, energized lines arced and ignited nearby materials. The fire spread to dumpsters, a pickup truck and wooden fencing. No one was injured, and no buildings sustained fire damage.

Dine-in and carryout service will be available when La Casa reopens. Customers also can order through the restaurant’s website, which links to third-party delivery services.

A Family Restaurant Since 1977

Konstantinos “Gus” Monis and his wife, Diane Monis, founded La Casa in 1977 as a small carryout operation. Their son, Dimitri Monis, said they moved the restaurant to its current dine-in location at the Shoppes at Foxchase in 2007.

La Casa serves Greek and Italian food made from scratch and is especially known for its pizza, Dimitri said. The menu also includes pasta, salads, sandwiches, subs, gyros and pitas.

Dimitri said La Casa’s longtime staff is looking forward to seeing customers again.

“We want to thank everyone who had shown their love and support for us over the years. We are beyond excited to get reopened and see everyone once again,” Dimitri said.

La Casa Restaurant is at 4551 Duke St., Alexandria, VA 22304. For information, call 703-370-3600 or visit lacasapizzarestaurant.com.
