ALEXANDRIA, VA — Artificial intelligence can help write an email, answer a question or organize a busy day. But how much personal information should you share with a chatbot? And how can you tell when a scammer is using AI to fool you?

Alexandria residents can get some answers on Friday, October 23, from noon to 1:30 p.m., during a free virtual webinar about using artificial intelligence safely.

Presented by the City of Alexandria, the Commission on Information Technology and Computer CORE in recognition of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the session will feature experts discussing both the opportunities and risks of AI.

Topics include how AI, machine learning and large language models work; recognizing AI-powered scams; writing better prompts; checking AI-generated answers for accuracy; and keeping private information out of chatbots.

Whether you’re just experimenting with AI or already using it every day, the panel promises practical advice, with time for attendees to ask questions.
