It Must Be Fall: It’s Time for The Northern Alexandria Native Plant Sale, Part 2

By Mary Wadland

ALEXANDRIA,VA- Twice a year, ParkFairfax residents Scott Knudsen and his wife Jennifer Pease throw a plant party and invite the whole DMV to come.

About 900 people showed up at their spring Northern Alexandria Native Plant Sale in April. The next one is September 28 from 9am to 2pm at the same location, the Church of St. Clement at 1701 N. Quaker Lane. As it turns out, Fall is the best time to plant because plants and trees will have the winter to establish themselves before the next hot summer season. Twelve vendors from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania will be selling native plants, shrubs, and trees for sun or shade at the sale, and live music will be provided by Jim Sheats.
