Mr. Baldwin Goes to the Old Dominion
Baldwin explained how he was once a Virginian himself when as a college student at George Washington University he lived in Crystal City

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria Delegate Charniele Herring (D-46) hosted actor Alec Baldwin in a meet and greet October 22nd at the home of Singleton McAllister and Emmit McHenry. Ms. McAllister was the Virginia Board of Elections official overseeing the January, 2018 drawing of the decisive slip of paper covertly sealed in a retro Kodak film canister that decided the November, 2017 tied race between Shelly Simonds (Virginia -D) and David Yancy (Virginia-R). The infamous official blue-and-white stoneware pottery piece is from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.
The Saturday Night Live personality best known for his channeling of the President was knocking on doors in the Old Dominion, stumping for Democrats. By supporting a Democratic majority, his goal is to tip the scale in the Virginia General Assembly to guarantee adoption of the Equal Rights Amendment, making Virginia the 38th state to do so and thus establishing it as the law of the land.
Baldwin explained how he was once a Virginian himself when as a college student at George Washington University he lived in Crystal City. He was soon made to understand that the real Virginia is south of these parts! The actor stars in the Edward Norton film noir whodunnit Motherless, Brooklyn recently screened at the Middleburg Film Festival.
Also attending the event was Alexandria Delegate Mark Levine (D-45) among the many members of the NOVA General Assembly and Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA) who had gathered not only to meet the SNL presidential impersonator but to hear guest speaker, People for the American Way Board Member, and celebrated 89-year-old labor activist Dolores Huerta rally for ERA advocacy. Ms. Huerta was co-founder with Cesar Chavez of the National Farm Worker’s Association which later became the United Farm Workers.
Delegate Herring this past Sunday hosted a brunch at the Alexandria home of Martha Lloyd and Ronal Butler with special guest Democratic presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris.
