Alexandria, VA – In its nightly email, the city continues to urge residents to stay at home, unless going out is essential. And when out, they stress the importance of maintaining six feet of distance around others.

A webinar takes place Monday, May 18 that aims to help parents learn how to get through the pandemic with their children. The session, starting at 3 p.m., will be hosted by Formed Families Forward, a non-profit organization that assists a wide range of groups. Their work includes assisting families with foster children and children with special needs.

The webinar, titled “Pandemic Parenting: Brain Science, Help, and Hope,”  will offer first-hand experiences concerning the reasons why the pandemic is an extreme challenge for parents and other caregivers.

The session will teach caregivers how to build resilience in themselves and their children. Some parenting tips informed by scientific study will be presented.

Organizers hope that parents leave the webinar with a feeling of empowerment and the confidence that their families will get through the challenges they face.
