RunningBrooke has partnered with the City of Alexandria Parks and Recreation Department to renovate the Hume Springs Park Playground, at 100 Dale Street in Arlandria. Currently a neglected park, surrounded by a ten-foot-high chain link fence, the playground sits in a neighborhood filled with children – the highest percentage of which are under the age of five, and where more than 80% are eligible for free and reduced meals.  With help from Rebuilding Together Alexandria, and the generous support of Teva Respiratory, The Brickman Group, Simpson Development, The Rotary Club of Alexandria, Rosemont Landscaping and Lawncare, and the Hume Springs Neighborhood Association, the park’s top-to-bottom makeover has already started.  The renovated park will provide a fun, safe and engaging place to play.

RunningBrooke Volunteer Build Day is September 19 when the community will be out in force to put the final touches on the park makeover.   Volunteers will help plant flowers, create a butterfly garden, and build tables and benches.  For more information, please visit www.runningbrooke.org.
