ALEXANDRIA, VA – Pups in Alexandria can cool off at Alexandria Dog Swim 2025 this Saturday, August 16, as the city kicks off its annual end-of-summer swim series at Memorial Pool, 901 Wythe Street.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., offering four separate 45-minute sessions for dogs and their owners. Registration is required, and each dog may be signed up for just one session — at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, or 1 p.m. Proof of current rabies vaccination is mandatory.

While the Memorial Pool swim is generally reserved for dogs under 25 pounds, city information this year contains some conflicting details, also noting that “friendly dogs of all sizes” are welcome.

This weekend’s splash is the first of three Dog Swim dates planned. Warwick Pool (3301 Landover Street) will host the next one on September 6, followed by Old Town Pool (1609 Cameron Street) on September 27. Both of those events will welcome dogs of all sizes, with four sessions each.

Memorial Pool is located one block from a DASH bus stop and offers free parking for attendees.

Dog owners can reserve their spot online through the city’s recreation website HERE.
