ALEXANDRIA, VA – Have you always wanted to find a way to help during the holidays? Here’s your chance. Your generosity will make the season brighter for low-income families, children in foster care, and adults with disabilities, and other Alexandrians in need.

Through the Fund for Alexandria’s Child annual Holiday Sharing Program, sponsors purchase gift cards for eligible families and individuals. Once purchased the cards are distributed by volunteers and the Department of Community and Human Services.

As of this writing, 450 families, 100 seniors and adults with disabilities, and 120 children in foster care  have qualified to receive assistance.

Residents or groups can sponsor an individual or family by registering online by Nov. 29.

Monetary donations can be made online via credit card (American Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or e-check). Donation checks can be made payable to The Fund for Alexandria’s Child or to the DCHS Senior Fund and mailed to Holiday Sharing Program, 2525 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria, VA  22301.
