Alexandria Dog Park Meeting April 16 — Public Invited to Weigh In On Lights at Ben Brenman

RPCA to Hold Community Meeting on Brenman Park Dog Park Lights

The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) will hold a community meeting on April 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center to receive comment on the need to adjust the approved lighting operation for the Ben Brenman Park Dog Park.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the need to amend the Special Use Permit (SUP2015-0128) to adjust the duration of the operation of the lights at the Ben Brenman Dog Park, located in the back corner of Ben Brenman Park across Holmes Run. The operation hours of the dog park will continue to be consistent with the hours of operation for the park from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, staff will receive comment on the community’s request to add trail lighting between the two bridges that cross Holmes Run.

On May 1, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and consider the request to amend the operation of the Ben Brenman Park Dog Park lights and additional lights requested by the community.

Individuals unable to attend the community meeting or Planning Commission meeting are encouraged to send written comments to Robert Narvaez, Urban Planner II, by email at [email protected]  or standard mail to RPCA, Attn: Robert Narvaez, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria VA 22314. All comments received will be provided to the Planning Commission for consideration.
