Alexandria, VA – One of the Del Ray community’s favorite holiday traditions, the Del Ray Candy Cane Bar Crawl, raised a record $8,500 for Community Lodgings. The record-setting event featured 675 participants, 14 restaurants, and over 30 business sponsors coming together to help combat homelessness in the Alexandria community. The Del Ray Business Association also presented $500 donations to the winners of the annual Christmas tree decorating contest; for the second year in a row, the people’s choice winner was Lu’s Labs, a foster-based rescue dedicated to saving and rehoming Labrador Retrievers; the judges’ choice winner was Mount Vernon Community School PTA. “We see our businesses as an extension of our school, and we are so lucky to have this partnership,” said MVCS PTA President Martha Davis.
