Bishop Ireton High School held a groundbreaking ceremony September 18th for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art academic wing. The 40,000 square foot building will be located adjacent to the current school building on Cambridge Road. It will include an expanded cafeteria, media center and learning commons, STEM labs, as well as additional classrooms and collaborative learning spaces.

“We are thrilled to see progress on this long-anticipated expansion and are eager to see all the positive changes this will have on the future of Bishop Ireton,” said Dr. Thomas Curry, Head of School. “This new building represents a significant investment in our current and future students, allowing us to better serve them into 2019 and beyond.”

Construction on the new building began last summer with the demolition of the Oblate House, which served many different functions. Originally built as housing for the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, who founded the school in 1964, it evolved into administrative offices, classrooms, and common areas.
