ALEXANDRIA, VA-Two T.C. Williams High School students have been named to the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Honor Roll. Junior Jackie Lutz and senior Lauren Larsen are staff on Theogony, the high school’s student-run media organization.

The NSPA is the largest association for grade school journalists, having selected approximately 1,400 to this year’s Honor Roll.

“These outstanding students excel in both the classroom and in their school newsrooms,” NSPA Associate Director Gary Lundgren said. “The future of journalism is bright if these students are any indication.”

In addition to serving two years in student media, each honoree must attain at least a 3.5 GPA. They are nominated by publication advisers and journalism instructors.

Honorees are presented with a certificate of recognition and are listed in the annual publication “Best of High School Press.”

Seniors who receive the honor are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship. NSPA will announce the winner later this month.

“Lauren and Jackie are particularly deserving of this recognition for their academic and journalistic achievements,” said T.C. Principal Peter Balas. “I am proud of their hard work and they truly represent our school as model Titans.”
