Alexandria, VA – Alexandria supports the peaceful expression of community concerns. Many of this city’s leaders have already spoken out in solidarity.

Alexandria is aware of a number of peaceful vigils, protests and other events planned this week, and will provide appropriate staffing to maintain public safety and traffic control. One such event is a march scheduled to take this afternoon, June 4, between 4 and 7 p.m. The planned route includes George Washington Middle School, Old Town, and the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.

Please avoid these areas during the event times unless you are participating. Rolling road closures may be necessary depending on crowd size.

Call or text 911 whenever someone needs immediate police, fire or emergency medical assistance. COVID-19 is still a threat in our region, and it is safest to stay at home and avoid crowded areas. If you do go out, wear a cloth face covering over your nose and mouth and stay at least six feet apart from others at all times.
