Seniors Invited to Participate in Alexandria Fall Prevention Study: Sign Up By June 6

Participants Receive 8-Weeks FREE Exercise Classes and FREE Health Screening

PK Move, an Alexandria non-profit dedicated to sharing the transformative power of parkour (moving through your environment in a smooth, efficient manner) serves people who benefit from on-site, adaptive training.

Their flagship program, PK Silver, is designed for participants over 50 and focuses mainly on fall prevention. This is because one of every four adults 65+ falls each year. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries in senior citizens. “Learning to fall” and avoiding falls are a key element in parkour training. The program is a natural fit in addressing this national crisis.

Dr. Alexei Wong from Marymount University is conducting the senior study.

Working with Dr. Alexei Wong of Marymount University to conduct an evidence-based study of PK Silver, PK Move hopes to validate and improve its program, and have it declared a proven fall prevention program, perhaps using the study results to get a grant to expand classes, thereby helping more older folks to avoid falls.

Classes will be held through the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities (RPCA).
