Clean Out Your Closet: Two Men and a Truck Seeks Dress Donations Ahead of ‘Dress it Forward’ Giveaway
Sevral Alexandria Businesses Have Boxes for You to Fill

ALEXANDRIA, VA – On September 14, the warehouse of Northern Virginia’s Two Men and a Truck will transform into a giveaway of free dresses and other festive hand-me-downs for the community to take.
This is thanks to the moving company’s inaugural ‘Dress it Forward’ campaign.
“We had this other franchise in Michigan do this last year and the year before, and it ended up being super successful,” Sales and Marketing Manager Kayla Glicker said. “They had probably hundreds to thousands of dresses lined up in their warehouse, and just a huge turnout.”

Glicker said she noticed the social media traction the Michigan franchise gained from the campaign and wanted to try it out for the NOVA franchise.
While the Michigan operation was limited to prom dresses, the upcoming giveaway has a more evergreen focus, sporting fits for any occasion.
“We really want to just be able to get outfits and items for women in need for any formal event they need just for people to feel special and feel beautiful on that day, whatever the occasion may be,” Multi-Unit Marketing Coordinator Ryan Downey said.
“We’re collecting donations of gently used or new Prom Dresses, Homecoming Dresses, Formal Wear, Flats, Heels, and Accessories all summer long,” says the company’s website. “These items will be gifted to women, teens, and children in need as we head into fall. If you’ve got items in your closet that are ready for a second chance to shine, now is the perfect time to pass them on to someone who will cherish them.”
Until the big day, local businesses are hard at work collecting items that are ready to be passed on. Collection began in early June and will run through the end of August.

Several collection sites have been established throughout local Alexandria businesses. The locations include:
Salon DeZen- 118 N. Fayette Street
Artistic Artifacts- 4750 Eisenhower Avenue
Smitten Boutique Salon- 2209 N Pershing Drive
Orange Theory Old Town- 3624 King Street
Artistic Artifacts employee Julie Middleton says the art supplies shop has a history of putting on charitable events, which made them more than willing to collaborate with Two Men and a Truck for Dress it Forward.
“We’ve been around since the early 2000s and we’ve always been a part of the community and tried to do things to help the community,” Middleton said. “We’re always looking for new partners and new ways we can interact and have charity events with the community here in Alexandria.”
Once September arrives, Glicker wants the community to know that this event is for them.
